Training

The Women’s Resource Center of the New River Valley offers public awareness presentations and training on domestic and sexual violence, WRC services and related topics to any interested group in the community. Our presentations have included classes at universities, church groups, civic groups, sororities, fraternities and others.

The Women’s Resource Center also offers trainings for professionals who come into contact with domestic and sexual violence, aimed at improving recognition and response to victims. Training audiences have included law enforcement, social workers, healthcare professionals, elder service agencies, domestic and sexual violence advocates, and others who may respond to those affected by domestic and sexual violence. Training topics include Screening for Domestic and Sexual Violence, Safety Planning, Developing a Coordinated Community Response, Domestic and Sexual Violence in Later Life, Trauma Informed Advocacy, and a wide variety of other topics.
