Coordinating Councils

Domestic and sexual violence are community concerns, and it will take a coordinated response to build a violence-free community. With this in mind, the Women’s Resource Center facilitates Coordinating Councils in each of the localities we serve – Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, Pulaski and Radford. These Coordinating Councils meet monthly and provide a forum for professionals and others concerned with the issues of sexual and domestic violence to network, learn from one another, problem-solve, and develop strategies to improve our community response to sexual and domestic violence. It is a forum for professionals in the field to coordinate services. Included in the Coordinating Councils are representatives from law enforcement, Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Offices, Social Services, area universities, hospitals, schools, and other concerned individuals. If you are interested in becoming involved or learning more about our Coordinating Councils, contact the Community Engagement Coordinator for meeting schedules or further information at (540) 639-9592 or e-mail us at
